Emotional regulation is a skill - and skills can be learned.
When simple daily tasks become daily battles, there is often more going on than motivation.
Austin Functional Therapy helps children and adults 18+ build emotional regulation, executive functioning, communication, confidence, and independence. Many of the people we work with have autism or ADHD. A diagnosis is never required.
Jess - parents of children ages 7-15 · Daisy - adults 18+
How we help
What these two words mean
- Emotional regulation
- Emotional regulation is our ability to cope internally and externally across environments - matching emotion to scale.
- Executive functioning
- Executive functioning is our ability to perform tasks, and manage behavior and cognition within age-expected parameters.
Emotional regulation is one executive functioning skill - the one families notice first, and the one sitting alongside all the others we work on. See the full set →
Who we work with
Children and adults 18+, including people with autism or ADHD, and people still looking for answers. A diagnosis is never required.
No diagnosis required
A diagnosis has never been the price of admission. If daily life feels harder than it should, that's reason enough to reach out.
Built on strengths
We start by finding what someone is already good at, then build the harder skills on top of it.
Real skills for real life
Our goal is helping you apply these skills outside of session - not just learn about them.
What sessions cost
We don't post rates. Session length and price differ between Jess and Daisy, so email whoever you'd be working with and you'll get the number for your situation.
Email is the way to reach us. There's no online booking yet, so a note to Jess or Daisy is the first step.
